Inside: Perron Manor

By Lee Mountford

The Sexton’s musings (spoilers are likely):

So this is the Prequel to “Perron Manor” which is the first book in the Haunted series. It’s really interesting as it is written as a piece of non-fiction. It is of course fiction but reads like one of Richard Estep’s books. There is even a section dedicated to a paranormal investigation. It’s actually really awesome! Honestly if you didn’t know any better you would be looking it up online to see what you could find.

There are three sections. Two that outline the history of the house, which has been many different things over time and then the third section is the “author’s” team doing their investigation of the house. As we know in horror stories the paranormal investigators don’t necessarily fair very well. Ah the lengths and risks that we will go to prove existence after death.

Closing thoughts:

This is very well written. To the point of seeming like a real book where the author researched a real place and people. It might be short but it definitely adds a really interesting element to the series. This is the first book related to the series that I have read so I don’t yet know how all of it ties into the stories but I imagine that there is mention of the 1982 incident.

The other part of this book that reads true is the fact that there are no gruesome deaths or horrific monsters. It’s a lot less visceral and more subtle as most things involved in real paranormal investigations tend to be. Documentary as opposed to movie. A unique (great) introduction to the series.

Happy Devouring!
