Haunted: Possession
Haunted: Possession

The Sexton’s musings (spoilers are likely):
Okay so I have to start with Ann is still a bitch. She isn’t even interested in being part of saving our reality. She has made it quite clear that the only reason she is still involved is because of the money she is being paid but the church. She is pissed at Sarah for the death of her “friend” Jenn (Jenn didn’t even like her). I say get the fuck out and do everyone a favor. Bitch needs to go! Luckily she does not play much of a roll in this one as the church decides only to send Sarah and Father Luca. At Father Luca’s request they also send David. He is the paranormal expert of the group after all. I’m not sure why the powers that be can’t see his contribution as significant. Regardless I think that it is. He has an impressive knowledge base that is shown in this one. We are introduced to a character that I hope we see again and that is Rachel Quinn. She is a reverend but the thing I like about her is that she is the research guru here. I love characters that research!
This book truly surrounds Sarah and the part that she has to play in the opening of the doors. The possessed priest specifically asks for her. Knows about her. About what happened at Parron Manor. With Sarah being her old, go off half-cocked, self she of course brings them all close to destruction. Being a military veteran you would think that she would want to be more prepared going into battle but she is about as impatient as a politician with a high end hooker. She wants to get down to it right away. In this scenario that is not really the best direction as they have no idea what they are walking into or what the intension of the entity is. Hell they barely know anything until the last 50-75 pages of the book. It’s insane. Honestly I feel like they should have done a bit more research before even arriving at the cathedral. At least as much as possible.
Yes there is some gore in this one. Violence against nice old ladies that did nothing to deserve what happens to them but I suppose that is the point. If they think this one is bloody they should read “Tormented”. That’s like a TED talk about human (and inhuman) anatomy. Lots of gross (it’s great)!
Closing thoughts:
I’m not sure what the Church is playing at but they are going to get their people killed. Perhaps they see them as expendable. Who knows? It does seem to me that the only person they have even an ounce of concern for is Sarah and even that is debatable. I mean shit they keep sending her into the lions den without the weapon of knowledge. Stupid old men. Then of course as soon as they get back off again they are commanded to go. This time farther than before. I understand that we are talking about apocalyptic type stuff here but dead tired can also mean dead as mistakes are bound to happen. But like I said expendability…
We learn at the end that David is bowing out of the more dangerous missions with Luca and Sarah, which is sad considering that his knowledge (and kindness) can be very useful and thought provoking in their efforts. It’s also completely understandable. I’m not mad about it. I am kind of upset that I’m gonna have to endure Ann again but it is what it is. Sometimes we must simply swallow the bitter pill. I recommend juice little Ghoulies.
