Horror You Crave (Story #’s 3, 10, 13, 20, & 22)
The Hairy Girl #20 (Horror You Crave Series)
By Julio Miranda
The Sexton’s musings (spoilers are likely):
This one has some low ratings on Amazon but only two written reviews which are both 4 stars. I'd be curious to know what those other 16 ratings didn't like about the story. Yes it's short, and I would like to know how the narrator got all of this other student’s information; however, I still think it was entertaining. There was a decent twist at the climax and now the real girl gets to go back to her life with a stellar academic record.
Closing thoughts:
Would I like to have some things expanded upon, of course; however, this is not how this particular collection of stories are written. They are brief glimpses into moments of time. Some of them take place over a few hours and some a couple of days but ultimately you should not expect much character development in 12 pages. This said, I have to admit, I was really hoping that our narrator was able to save the girl. I was rooting for them.

You Ever Been so High You Saw Unicorns #22 (Horror You Crave Series)
By Julio Miranda
The Sexton’s musings (spoilers are likely):
Out of all of these so far, this one has got to be the strangest. I'll be honest, things don't seem so bad until the face at the window shows up. I question if this dude is just smokin' pot...or is he throwing something a bit stronger in there. There is an element of humor in this one. The unicorns themselves are quite amusing. The whole basketball thing is also humorous. The fact that they are just there watching the game, complaining that one of the players is fucking up their bet brings a smirk to ones face. Things grow dark once the face shows up at the window. It's kinda creepy.
Closing thoughts:
Another Miranda moment that, this time, is quirky, humorous, and of course dark. The face at the window just one of those things that makes you say “nope!”. I do have to wonder exactly what it is and what it gets out of the whole deal. Something to consider.

Jerkin' on the Metro #10 (Horror You Crave Series)
By Julio Miranda
The Sexton’s musings (spoilers are likely):
This is an interesting, disturbing, and somewhat unexpected addition to this series of short stories. There is some graphic sexual content as the basis, for the entire story surrounds trying not to give into arousal. It's definitely unique. I am left with some questions as I get the impression that those on the train are there of their own volition. It's almost like they have signed up for some sort of challenge where there is a prize or something at the end. If you can resist your urges of course. There is also some gore but nothing overly bloody… descriptively.
Closing thoughts:
The most common bodily fluid in this story is not blood. There is some violence and I'd love to know who is behind the metallic tentacles that are pinning loosers to the wall. I mean what is the reward for signing up for something like this and what is the point? I mean I've never heard of a gas that makes you horny as hell. Like horny in the extreme. This is closer to extreme horror as these stories have gotten thus far.

The One in a Million Item #3 (Horror You Crave Series)
By Julio Miranda
The Sexton’s musings (spoilers are likely):
In this world the undead and humans co-exist within a society. Working and serving together side by side. The main character is one of the undead and he is looking for an item to impress his friends. One that he can use as a conversation piece at dinner parties (hate to think what that menu consists of) and can brag about. He happens to find this item in a store that reminds me very much of “Needful Things” or more like the store in the movie “From Beyond the Grave”. The end of the story reveals with is in the item and it is indeed one in a million.
Closing thoughts:
I do have to say when you find out what the item contains, it's rather disturbing and raises several questions. Questions like what does the zombie have planned for it? The description of the look that he has make you think that it may be something less than savory.

One Ear's Good Enough for Tonight #13 (Horror You Crave Series)
By Julio Miranda
The Sexton’s musings (spoilers are likely):
The main character in this one does something that I think everyone has thought about in their life. Killing an asshole of a co-worker or boss. I will say if anyone spoke to me like he gets spoken to the pain would be a lot worse for them. Plus people who sleep with a disgusting waste of flesh (rich, fat ugly men and women) to get ahead are disgusting fucks! He did that bitch a favor because eventually her tits were going to sag and she'd be replaced with a younger model.
Closing thoughts:
As for the security guard...he says something very profound when discussing that there is always going to be someone that will do worse than you. Usually you hear that there is always going to be someone better than you, smarter than you, more attractive than you, more talented than you. But this one twists that into there is always going to be someone worse than you, more violent than you, more angry than you, have more hatred than you, or be more creative in your killing than you. I love it. I think it's an interesting twist on a common saying.
