Doggies in the Basement #27 (Horror You Crave Series)

By Julio Miranda

The Sexton’s musings (spoilers are likely):

This is the first one where a straightforward human being is the monster. Honestly I feel that he's the worst out of the lot. Dude is seriously fucked up. His friend is similar to him, a murderer in his own right but no where near our host. There is no explanation on who the people he is keeping as “pets” are. If they wronged him in some way or wronged others; however, it does not seem that our host gives a toss about others so I'm gonna say that they are random innocent individuals that really did nothing to see them in the position that they are currently in. Kidnapped, starving, and abused.

Closing thoughts:

Love to get my hands on the monster in this one. Like a character in a previous story said, you'll always find someone who is willing to do worse than you. In his case I absolutely make an exception. Dude seems like a cocky asshole to me. Way too proud of his “collection”. Can't stand shits like him. Thinks he's untouchable. He needs to be taught a lesson. Over and over again.

The Yuppie in Taxi 469 #25 (Horror You Crave Series)

By Julio Miranda

The Sexton’s musings (spoilers are likely):

There is some character development in this one. It's very brief but necessary for the story as a whole. Really for the fate of our main character. It sounds to me like he still has yet to completely get over his ex-wife. A love-hate feeling in his heart. I would think that being a taxi driver would be a dangerous profession. Case and point this story.

Closing thoughts:

The hubris oozes off the passenger even when he turns into the creature that he is. It's actually rather disgusting. Getting away with discarding another living thing in this way and having no regard for that life. Although I have to say that kissing is a very intimate and personal thing. Many prostitutes won't kiss their Johns so for that girl to kiss this dude for two hours in the back of a cab without even exchanging names kinda grosses me out. It's interesting that he spares the driver. Obviously he would not be telling the story if he were dead...although it could have been his ghost or undead or something too. Who knows what kind of crazy shit that rich dipshit carries around on his ice cold tongue.

All He Had to do is Wait #15 (Horror You Crave Series)

By Julio Miranda

The Sexton’s musings (spoilers are likely):

An interesting setting. It's the thing of nightmares, really. A hallway that never ends. Rooms that mean nothing. Time that does not exist. Not knowing who you are or where you are. Wandering aimlessly to find something, anything that will give you some answers. No thank you! It would be interesting to add more length to this one. It could turn really creepy, very quickly.

Closing thoughts:

At first you are relieved a bit when the man finds the old woman but this relief does not last very long as she turns into some kind of monster and starts to eat him. Funny thing is she still has no idea who she is or what she is. She just is. That is of course until she consumes him and goes into a food coma waking up to find that she has turned into him. I mean it's fascinating but I have no idea what the fuck is going on really. Which is unnerving.

Online Friends #12 (Horror You Crave Series)

By Julio Miranda

The Sexton’s musings (spoilers are likely):

Not what I was expecting from the title. My mind went the stalker/child predator route. Honestly I feel like too much time spent online via social media particularly is bad for everyone. If I were her mother there is no way I would let things get as far as they had in this story. That fucking thing would have been thrown out of the window. The way she speaks to her is unacceptable. The bitch is weak. The husband, while he is probably a bully on the regular, I don't think his reaction is that far out of line. Not becoming physical and like punching the kid is not acceptable but the yelling I can understand. She's being a little shit. It's obvious that the kids health is declining and really the parents paid for it so it does not really belong to her anyway.

Closing thoughts:

If the father in this story, Franklin, is abusive outside of this situation then I am not sorry to see him go. But if this is just about the fucking computer than I don't think his attitude about the situation is wrong. Perhaps his reaction is a bit extreme but it seems that this has been something that they have been dealing with for quite a while. It would take more information for me to decide on my feelings for him.

Hack Them and You Die #1 (Horror You Crave Series)

By Julio Miranda

The Sexton’s musings (spoilers are likely):

We really are obsessed with money as a species. Both sides of the coin here are. It's not worth killing over. Although it's the motive for so many crimes in our society. You have to wonder how they get away with it. I understand that the two young men were trying to commit theft but the company commits murder. Even though they make it look like a suicide I'm sure those that are in charge of things, government etc., know perfectly well what is going on.

Closing thoughts:

Most that kill for money are not around long enough to actually enjoy it so really it's a stupid motivator. Most people that do, don't do good things with it. They just spend it on stuff. Stuff that doesn't matter. Totally not worth it.
